The Icom BC-240 desktop charger can fully charge a battery in approximately 2.5 hours. The LED indicator shows when the battery is on charge and then goes green when charged and ready to use. There is 2 screw holes that allows the BC-240 to be fixed to a desk.
The charger has a battery life extension capability.
This setting allows two charging modes: normal charging mode and Eco mode. In Eco mode, the charger will charge the battery up to 90% of its capacity. Lithium Ion battery life capacity is the number of charge cycles, which increases dramatically as the charge % goes down. For example, a battery charged to 80% of its capacity each time it is charged may have as many as twice the possible charge cycles. In the commercial radio world, 80% may be restrictive to the users so Icom limits its Eco charging to a maximum of 90%.
