Midian Electronics BTD-2 Subminiature Burst Tone Decoder
Description:
Midian Electronics offers the most extensive line of burst tone products available. Midian's BTD-2 is programmable for a wide range of burst tone frequencies. The BTD-2's programmable repeater hang time allows responding units to communicate through the repeater without having to send a new burst tone.
Applications:
Midian's burst tone products are ideal for use in radio systems using burst tone to activate repeaters. Although most repeaters today are activated by CTCSS, many older repeaters still use burst tone. When the user keys up their radio it sends a tone which is then decoded by the repeater. If the transmitted tone matches the repeater's burst tone frequency and tone time, the repeater will open and allow that user to talk. Once carrier is lost the repeater will drop and wait until it receives another burst.
These products are also ideal for use in microwave systems for out of band signaling.
