The Telewave ANT280S Discone offers a robust and lightweight design suitable for a broad frequency range from 118 MHz to 3 GHz, making it an ideal choice for diverse interoperability needs across multiple frequency bands. Constructed from military-grade 6061-T6 solid aluminum and welded at every connection point, this antenna is built for utmost durability. It features a durable radome that covers the upper cone and RF connections, providing resilience against harsh environmental conditions.
To safeguard against damaging environmental factors like corrosive gases, UV rays, salt fog, acid precipitation, and sandstorms typical of desert areas, both the radome and all metallic components of the antenna are coated with Txylan™. This coating ensures the antenna's longevity and performance in challenging conditions.
Designed with a 1.5” diameter mast, the ANT280S comes with an optional dual clamp kit for easy installation on support pipes ranging from 1.5” to 3.5” in outer diameter. Its lightweight nature makes it suitable for tactical field deployments as well as for mounting on mobile command vehicles, where it can serve as a standalone unit or replace existing multiple antenna setups. With a 500 watt power capacity, it supports the use of high-power communication devices and tactical repeaters.
Thanks to its fully coated surface and sturdy build, the ANT280S can also be permanently installed on towers or rooftops of command centers for long-term fixed applications. It is designed to work seamlessly with single or multi-band radios through one antenna output, with various low-loss couplers available to facilitate operation with multiple radios. To achieve the best performance at lower frequencies, it is recommended to mount the antenna at least 20 feet above any nearby reflective surfaces.
