Special Notes:
How to read Astron Corporation power supply model numbers:
Astron power supply part number (example: RS-10A) indicates what intermittent/peak current (in Amps) it is capable of.
Continuous duty current (7.5A) is 25% less than peak (10A). Be mindful of that when selecting a power supply for your application
RS- prefix denotes a standard regulated power supply
RM- prefix denotes a rack-mount power supply (mountable in a 19 inch rack). This package is offered on the larger power supplies.
When first letter in the model number is V (instead of an R), then output voltage and current limit are front-panel adjustable (‘V’ for ‘variable’).
SS- series are Small Switching power supplies.
Several models come equipped with a metal sleeve (hood), for a two-way radio to be mounted inside.
The sleeve is sized so a mobile radio slides in and snugly fits into it. The SS series suffix indicates the make/model of the compatible radio.
SL- series are Small Linear power supplies.
A metal sleeve (a.k.a. hood) is built on top of the cabinet, for a two-way radio to be mounted inside. The sleeve is sized so a mobile radio slides in and snugly fits into it. The SL series suffix indicates the make/model of the compatible radio.
LS- and VLS- series are Linear Special-voltage power supplies, generally 28 volt.
A trailing "M" indicates models with front panel Meters. All current issue metered Astron power supplies have illuminated meters.
20 and 35A supplies have one or two meters. 25A and larger switching supplies have two meters. 50A and larger supplies have two meters.
A trailing "L" indicates there's a cigarette Lighter socket on the front.
A trailing "S" means there's a Speaker inside the case.
A trailing "BB" indicates the Battery Backup option. This options adds battery revert with a trickle charging circuit. When batteries are present (Astron does not supply batteries), they keep the system running even during an AC power failure
A trailing "220V" indicates a foreign input voltage.
This variant of a power supply is for international applications. It is not suitable for domestic (USA) use.
A trailing "-E" indicates a Euro 3-conductor power cord option. It is not suitable for domestic (USA) use.
