KENWOOD KRA-23M3 UHF Antenna
UHF low profile helical antenna, 3.2 inch (80 mm) long. Successor of KRA-15.
This type of antenna consists of a thin metal rod, or "whip", that is wound with a helix of wire along its length. The helix acts as a loading coil, increasing the electrical length of the antenna and improving its performance at the lower end of the UHF range.
The shortened helical antenna is a useful solution in situations where the standard-size antenna might impede the work process. Although the antenna's reduced length has a minor impact on the radio communication range, it is an effective way to improve mobility and reduce potential obstructions.
